"I'd like to do an article on the why we're doing this," Dr. Maxwell said, explaining the administration will pair that communication with a short, focused survey and include research references on outcomes observed elsewhere. He said the survey will be short (two to three questions) and will ask what people like, dislike and what suggestions they have for implementing the policy.
Board members raised concerns about emergency access and students who use devices for disability accommodations; staff noted those issues are addressed in the draft policy. One board member recommended another discussion meeting after survey results are collected; Dr. Maxwell said he would aim to bring the item back for action in October but would delay if substantive feedback requires more time.
No vote was taken; the board directed staff to proceed with outreach and return with survey results and recommended next steps.
