Hazlet district reports modest gains on state tests, outlines supports for teachers

Mathematics districtwide was reported around 42% passing, with about a 3.5 percentage‑point uptick. Science — tested in grades 5, 8 and 11 — was reported near 20% passing.
Schwanz said the board and administrators will post a full slide deck on the district website and described targeted actions to build on the results: expanding a teacher‑leadership program to support data analysis, creating professional learning community (PLC) time for teachers to examine student data and plan instruction, strengthening tier‑1 interventions, and continuing common planning and common assessments to align instruction across classrooms.
District staff emphasized the presentation was districtwide data rather than school‑by‑school detail; staff invited parents to review the full slide presentation online and to contact the curriculum office with questions.
The presentation closed with an offer of follow‑up: district staff said the full slide deck would be posted the next day and that administrators were available to respond to individual questions.
