Trustee Mahoney moved to advise-and-consent to the president's appointment of Scott Cox to the Board of Police Commissioners; several trustees expressed concern about missing information and absent members, and the board ultimately moved to postpone items e, f and g to the July 15 meeting. The motion to postpone passed on a recorded roll call.
Later in the meeting a trustee moved to adjourn public session and enter executive session to discuss pending litigation under the Illinois Open Meetings Act (5 ILCS 120/2(c)(11)). The board voted in favor of moving into executive session and indicated it would not return to public session after that executive session.
The appointments will be reconsidered at the July 15 meeting when additional trustees (including the absent member) can participate; the pending litigation matter will be handled in closed session as allowed by statute.
