Port reports key America's Cup deadlines met; bases and terminals reach substantial completion

Daley Dunham said March 1 was the contractual date to hand over primary event locations; staff reported the bases at Pier 3032 were complete and substantial completion was reached for the cruise ship terminal work at Piers 27 and 29. Dunham said the port delayed formal handover of some spaces until the event authority was ready to proceed, and that the port completed multiple tenant improvements and a significant concrete pour tied to the Brandon Street Wharf project.
Dunham also highlighted coordination with the Army Corps of Engineers on cleanup work at Pier 23 and the port’s use of targeted repairs rather than full long‑term reconstruction where appropriate. The presentation noted that some infrastructure work would require continued attention and that port crews had completed a high percentage of pile and apron work.
Commissioners thanked staff for meeting deadlines and noted the port has significant unreimbursed investments in America's Cup infrastructure. The commission asked for continued reporting on transportation, jobs, economic development, LBE/local hiring plans and sustainability metrics during the entitlement and construction phases.
What happens next: Staff said they expect to hand over the remaining items (Pier 3032 base activation and the Pier 45 transmitter) once tenants and event authorities are ready and will provide additional status reports to the commission.
