Evansville council ratifies 2025–2027 police contract, FOP president thanks city

The Evansville Common Council on Oct. 28 unanimously adopted Resolution C‑2024‑22 ratifying an agreement between the city and the Fraternal Order of Police, Evansville Lodge No. 73, covering Jan. 1, 2025 through Dec. 31, 2027.
Council members praised collaboration between the administration and union negotiators, and several members highlighted the contract’s pay increases for officers. Aaron McCormack, president of the local FOP, addressed the council and thanked Mayor Stephanie Terry, city personnel, legal counsel and the contract committee for their work securing the agreement.
"This contract represents a vital investment in the safety and well‑being of our city and the dedicated officers who serve the community," McCormack said. He thanked council members for their support and stood for questions; none were asked.
The clerk called the roll and the resolution passed 9–0. The resolution will govern the specified contract period and is now recorded as adopted by the council.
