Franklin students recount Europe trip with Endress+Hauser; board praises partnership

The Franklin Community School Corp. board heard students describe a weeklong study trip to Italy, Switzerland and Germany sponsored in partnership with Endress+Hauser and the Franklin Education Connection.
Monica Anderson, introduced by the superintendent as a trip chaperone stationed at Franklin Middle School, and Dustin Huddleston, identified as president of the Franklin Education Connection, joined students as they walked the board through the itinerary and lessons learned. Luke Holcroft, one of the student presenters, thanked Endress+Hauser, Franklin Community Schools and parents, saying, "I just wanna say thank you to Endress Hauser, FCS, and my parents because this is probably one of the coolest things I've ever [done]."
Students described guided tours of Milan’s Duomo, a four-hour scenic train into Basel, an Endress+Hauser headquarters visit in Rheinach with hands-on demonstrations, and a visit to the Dachau concentration camp, which several called a sobering lesson in history. Presenters also described visits to a Lindt factory and rides on a gondola over Lake Zurich.
Several students told the board the trip influenced their interests. One presenter said the company visits opened their eyes to careers in engineering and human resources; another described the experience as "a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity" that expanded cultural understanding.
Superintendent remarks thanked partner organizations and noted the district plans another Endress+Hauser visit in May 2026. Administrators also said internships with Endress+Hauser have continued since an earlier trip and that the district is pursuing a separate donor-funded opportunity to send 10 students to a U.S. national park.
The presentation concluded with the board offering congratulations and posing brief follow-up questions about students’ favorite sites and unexpected experiences.
