The Sandy City Council authorized the city manager to execute a contract awarding phase 2 of Deerpoint Park development to Lango Hansen Landscape Architects.
Staff said Lango Hansen completed phase 1 (30% construction documents) after robust public engagement and delivered a preferred concept. Phase 2 will complete 100% construction documents, support permitting and bidding, coordinate utility extensions and right-of-way questions adjacent to nearby development, and provide construction oversight. "Staff is requesting tonight that they authorize the city manager to execute an agreement to award phase 2 of the Deerpoint Park development to Lango Hansen Landscape Architects," staff said.
Councilors moved and seconded the authorization; the motion carried by voice vote. Staff indicated outreach to neighbors (a mailed questionnaire to about 200 households) is ongoing to select a final play structure, and noted possible consideration of multiuse court programming (e.g., basketball with temporary nets for pickleball). The award authorizes continuation of design into construction documents and positions the city to submit permits and bid the work.
