Evansville Climate Collaborative starts 2025 Climate Action Plan update and explores local pilot partnerships

At its July 10 meeting, the Evansville Climate Collaborative reported it has launched a 2025 revision of the city's Climate Action Plan and is engaging consultants and local partners for outreach and pilots.
Speaker 2 said the consultant Caramida will consolidate redundant strategies in the existing plan into umbrella strategies and form technical teams—one per strategy—to scrutinize and refine actions. A core team will compile recommendations and is expected to present to City Council around January.
Staff also described branding work with local firm Kitchenschreiber to design table displays, signage and agency materials and noted coordination with City communications to aim for a consistent citywide look in the future.
On partnerships and pilots, Speaker 2 described a recent tour of Anu, a downtown company developing vertical indoor food-growing columns and compostable seed pod packets supported by a USDA grant. "They recycle water...no pesticides are used," Speaker 5 said during the report, and staff said Anu is pursuing different sizes for home, cafeteria and institutional use and that pilot grants could fund installations in local schools.
The board agreed to explore sponsorship opportunities and potential partners such as the American Lung Association for air-quality work. Speaker 2 also invited members to a nonprofits roundtable July 17 at 4 p.m. at the Vanderburgh County Central Library where Solar United Neighborhoods will present.
Board members closed by discussing communications: Speaker 3 urged the Collaborative to more strongly link recent extreme weather to climate change in public messaging; Speaker 2 and others said outreach and local information-sharing are central to their strategy.
