Hamilton council backs support letter and approves three cannabis permits and licenses

Hamilton Township Council on June 18 voted to support several cannabis-industry actions — a municipal letter supporting a proposed retail/manufacturing project, a local testing-lab permit, and a one-year manufacturing license — while council members and residents pressed applicants on zoning, timelines and local hiring.

The council approved Resolution 324-235, a letter of support for 6686 LLC (presented in the meeting by representatives identifying themselves as Jerry Feisner and Sameer Patel), to accompany that applicant’s submission to the New Jersey Cannabis Regulatory Commission for a Class 2 manufacturer license and/or a Class 5 retail license. Applicant Jerry Feisner described the planned site at 121 Youngs Road as "about 1.5 acres" and said the company would phase in retail before any manufacturing. "Security is probably our our highest priority, not for our staff, but also for the public," Feisner told the council, adding that strict ID checks and secure access areas would be part of the build-out.

Council members asked about zoning, setbacks and whether a nearby daycare would affect approvals; a township planner said the property is in an appropriate zone but that project plans must still go before the planning and zoning boards as required. The council recorded four votes in favor and one abstention on the support-resolution vote; the motion passed.

Council separately approved Resolution 424-236 to issue a Township Testing Laboratory Permit to Green Analytics East LLC for permit years 2021–2024 (retroactive). Officials noted the testing operation at Ibis Plaza was already operating and that the permit/fee process recently returned about $70,000 to township coffers. A director summarized that the lab "employ[s] a lot of people" and does "$3,000,000 worth of business a year." That resolution passed with an abstention recorded for one member.

Finally, the council approved Resolution 524-237, a one-year Class 2 manufacturing license for Sun Extractions at 9 South Gold Drive. Company owner Steve Loves told the council the buildout was "99% done" and that the firm awaited final inspections and a Certificate of Occupancy before CRC review. The motion carried after roll call; one council member abstained.
