The United Independent School District Board of Trustees voted to approve employee compensation for staff affected by an emergency closure at Troutman Elementary on Oct. 4, 2024.
A district presenter explained that the campus was closed because of a city water outage that prevented normal instruction and that the district sought permission to compensate staff for the day since the closure was not the district's fault: "we compensate them for the day that it wasn't their fault and that we take care of all the needs that took place," the presenter said.
A trustee moved and seconded the resolution; the Chair called for a voice vote and recorded 'aye' with no opposition heard. The board approved compensation for employees and did not indicate a roll-call tally in open session.
