An unnamed representative of the county Convention and Visitors Bureau briefed the tourism commission on recent travel trends, marketing initiatives and accreditation efforts.
The CVB presenter said recent trend data showed increases in one-night leisure stays in June and July and that occupancy is trending slightly up from last year, noting that some local properties (Oakwood and Brookpoint in Syracuse) were not included in the occupancy report. The CVB reported hosting three social-media influencers and pivoting quickly to host Division I nationals and regionals, which the presenter said brought positive exposure to county attractions.
The CVB said the 2025–26 visitor guide will be distributed in February 2025 and that staff and board are pursuing Destination Marketing Accreditation from Destinations International, a standards-based program the presenter said will be decided around July 2025. Commissioners and guests discussed sports-event calculators and data sharing to demonstrate economic impact for grant applicants and event organizers.
