Mr. Taich, who addressed the committee during the item, summarized how bridge inspections are handled at the state level. “The state of South Dakota provides bridge inspections for all communities and all counties in the state of South Dakota at a cost share,” he said, adding that the state amended its contract about four years ago to require inspection consultants to present results to the governing body that owns the bridge. “The state's requirements do say that the presentation has to be recognized within the meeting minutes,” Taich said. He told the committee the consultant would make a short presentation to the full council on Monday night.
