Kearney approves $65,946.36 playground safety surface to complete two parks

Eric Marshall, who discussed the procurement, said leftover funds originally appropriated for Lions Park made it possible to extend the installation to Mac Porter Park as well. "We just got really good bids on the Lions Park, and there were leftover funds that were allocated just for the actual Lions Park," Marshall said; the board will use some of those remaining funds to complete surfacing at Mac Porter Park immediately after Lions Park work is finished.
Marshall said the work covers the full playground area at Mac Porter Park, that equipment already on-site is in usable condition, and that the project will replace timber border timbers with a concrete border like Lyons Park. The surfacing change will improve accessibility and safety for children, including those who use wheelchairs.
A motion to approve the purchase was made and seconded; the board voted "aye" and the motion passed unanimously.
