Fire recruits to graduate Aug. 9 after completing EMT and HAZMAT training

“the recruits have about 4 weeks left to their training academy,” said Unidentified Speaker 3, who reported that the group had “successfully completed EMT” and, “as of today, they passed their HAZMAT, testing.” The speaker said the commission will send official invitations once they are produced.
Unidentified Speaker 4 confirmed the graduation venue as Vectron Auditorium at Ivy Tech Community College. The chief said organizers selected a larger venue and are considering pushing back start times for future graduations to better accommodate family members; however, he said the Aug. 9 ceremony will remain at 3 p.m. for this class.
The report places the recruits’ completion of certified emergency medical training and HAZMAT testing as the principal operational update from the commission. No formal action was required or taken on the training report during the session.
The commission did not take public comment on the training report and raised no questions during the meeting.
