The Evansville City board on Aug. 15 approved an amendment to the driveway engineering standard (D1) to allow a maximum driveway width of 30 feet for front‑facing three‑to‑four car garages on new construction.
Unidentified Speaker (S4) told the board the change had been discussed at a prior meeting and that staff sought to capture the practice in written standard. The amendment updates the related standard (D2, sidewalks and crossings) where it directly relates to D1.
Questions were raised about inviting an external party (Cash Wagner) to discuss calculations for a particular development; staff said they would extend that invitation for later discussion. The board moved and approved the amendment by voice vote.
Why this matters: the amendment changes design standards applied to new residential construction and could affect curb cuts, sidewalk crossings and front‑yard drainage. The board did not record a roll‑call vote in the meeting transcript.
