The San Francisco Police Commission on Dec. 7 voted to adopt a resolution urging the Board of Supervisors to authorize the chief of police to accept a furniture donation from Galindo Installation & Moving Services valued at $207,950.
Patrick Leong of SFPD—s procurement office described the donation as 170 steel-case workstations, 12 tables, 75 task chairs and other items, noting the pieces were in good condition and would replace aging furniture at the Hall of Justice. Leong said the city will post any unusable items on the city—s virtual warehouse for other departments to claim.
Commissioners questioned whether Galindo is an approved city vendor and whether large donations require Board approval. Leong confirmed Galindo had previously worked with the department and that gifts valued at $10,000 or greater require an accept-and-expend resolution from the Board of Supervisors and the mayor.
Commissioner Malara moved the resolution and a second was called; the roll-call vote was recorded as six ayes and no nays and the motion passed. Vice President Turman said staff will return with additional verification requested in relation to awards committee nominees and with confirmation about any pending investigations before the award ceremony scheduled for February.
The resolution will be transmitted to the Board of Supervisors for final authorization.
