The Orange County sheriff’s chief presented September statistics for Stanton: approximately 1,880 calls for service (about 62 per day); deputies observed roughly 693 violations; more than 400 patrol checks; 59 arrests including 11 felony bookings, 41 misdemeanor bookings, 7 warrant bookings and 5 DUI bookings; motor deputy issued 57 traffic citations; listed crimes included one homicide, six robberies, 53 violent assaults, one arson, eight burglaries, 41 thefts and 11 stolen vehicles. Response times for priority calls were reported at about 4 minutes, 41 seconds for priority 1; 18:58 for priority 2; and 34:55 for priority 3. Investigations had 48 open cases and 57 cases closed in the month.
A council member asked the chief to explain the transcript entry labeled "citizen's arrest," and the chief said it likely refers to a private person's arrest (for example, initiated by security personnel), which deputies then investigate and for which the private person assumes responsibility for court attendance.
The meeting adjourned with a reminder the next meeting is scheduled for November 12.
