The Evansville Design Review Committee on Aug. 13 approved building-mounted informational signage for Lloyd Self Storage at 111 W. Division Street in the Jacobsville redevelopment area.
Kayla Rodenberg of Alvy Signs, the applicant’s representative, told the committee the signs would be "on the building itself" and described them as directional and informational rather than advertising. Committee members discussed project phasing and placement; the applicant said one building is complete and a second is forthcoming, and that signs would be placed at corners of the building to show the facility name and hours.
Committee members asked whether the storage units would be interior or drive-up; Rodenberg said the units are interior and require entry, clarifying that the site would not create drive-up unit traffic. After clarifications and brief questions about visibility and site layout, a committee member moved to approve the proposed signs, a second was recorded, and the committee adopted the recommendation by voice vote. The applicant was told paperwork would be provided after the meeting.
The committee placed conditions on record‑keeping and directed staff to include the approval in the packet sent to the applicant; no separate variances were requested for these building-mounted signs during the hearing.
The committee moved on to subsequent agenda items following the approval.
