Clean Power SF reports enrollment progress, readies for July citywide phase

Michael Hines, director of Clean Power SF, updated the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission on the program's enrollment and procurement progress and noted staff preparations for a July citywide enrollment phase.
"As of this week, Clean Power staff is serving approximately 85,500 accounts," Hines said, noting a cumulative opt-out rate of 3.2 percent and that 4.1 percent of accounts have opted up to the 100 percent renewable "super green" product. He said staff will request best-and-final offers from suppliers and finalize power-supply and bank-credit agreements in advance of the next enrollment phase.
Hines told commissioners staff is also evaluating a potential rate action to go into effect around July 1 to ensure the program meets its phasing, affordability and power-content objectives. He said recent PG&E changes — a PCIA increase of about 11–14 percent and an approximate 8 percent generation-rate increase — are a factor in that evaluation and that Clean Power SF customers should still see lower bills compared with PG&E service under the current projections.
Staff plans to return to commission meetings in March with further details and results from procurement and enrollment planning.
