Ben, who presented the update, said the units were ordered in July and would arrive in about six weeks. He told the board the vendor’s maintenance program — which covers pad replacement, unit repairs and 24/7 monitoring — would cost about $600 per year and recommended the county cover that maintenance. "We have ordered 3 new units," Ben said, and noted that the units are temperature controlled and report data to 911 when used.
Board members asked practical questions about siting (visibility and electrical access), who would connect power, the expected installation approach (a simple plug into an outlet was described for one local installation), and whether the maintenance fee is billed annually. Ben said he would confirm whether the fee is annual or biannual and recommended placing a resolution on the board agenda to formalize the county’s maintenance commitment and any connection costs.
At the meeting the board did not adopt a final resolution for AED maintenance or installation; the chair suggested drafting a formal resolution and bringing it forward for approval at a subsequent meeting.
