Solid Waste District presents flat 2025 budget; tipping fees cover operations

Contractual services and most line items mirror the prior year, with modest increases (about $7,800) attributed to health insurance, unemployment, rent and liability insurance. Carlson listed 2025 expenditures of $597,416 and revenues estimated at approximately $470,000; she said tipping fees account for roughly $460,000 of that revenue and that the district is fully funded by tipping fees plus interest. Council members asked whether the district’s employees would receive the city’s 3 percent raise; Carlson confirmed they would.
Council noted a typographical error in the meeting notice and confirmed the public hearing timeline: the hearing and subsequent council vote on the Solid Waste budget will occur on Oct. 2.
