Commission approves Ironbuck Acres PUD amendment, façade variance and building elevations

The Planning Commission approved several staff-recommended items on Aug. 8, including a major amendment to the Ironbuck Acres planned unit development, a façade variance for a Bank of Oklahoma remodel and building elevations for a downtown mixed-use site.
Staff described BAZ16-18-2024/PUD16-17-2024 (Ironbuck Acres) as a 15-acre PUD expansion that would allow commercial, office, warehouse and climate-controlled storage uses. Staff recommended approval subject to platting and PUD amendment adoption. The applicant’s representative, Mark Capron of Wallace Design Collective, confirmed the project team had incorporated staff-requested changes, including an opaque screening fence along the residential northern boundary, masonry columns at regular intervals and other screening measures. “My client agreed to do that and that's what we're planning on doing,” Capron said.
Commissioners also reviewed a façade-variance application for a Bank of Oklahoma remodel that proposes a mix of metal, masonry, brick, curtain wall and tile materials; commissioners noted modern metal finishes can be compatible when not corrugated. Staff recommended approval, and the motion passed.
Separately, building elevations for Site 1537 (a downtown mixed-use site in the DROD) were presented and staff recommended approval; the commission approved the proposed elevations per staff recommendation.
Votes on these items were taken by roll call and recorded as affirmative; the staff recommended items will proceed to any required council action or permit review.
