Barnstable County delegates press commissioners over late-revealed administrator raise and hiring process

Barnstable County delegates used a lengthy Sept. 4 Assembly meeting to press the Board of Regional Commissioners for documents and explanations after learning this summer that the county administrator received a near-term contract extension with a substantial pay increase that had not been disclosed to the Assembly during budget deliberations.
Delegate Mary Chaffee, who led the questioning during the Assembly's discussion, said the Assembly first learned of the administrator's raise only when members were asked to approve a supplemental appropriation to cover part of the increase.
