The Saginaw City Council voted to move its regularly scheduled meeting that would have fallen on Tuesday, Nov. 5 (election night), to Monday, Nov. 4.
Janice Englund, city secretary, said the library will serve as a polling place for the November election and that staff had received citizen comments recommending the council avoid holding its meeting on election night. Englund outlined options including canceling, moving the meeting to another night, or changing location.
Several council members said they preferred keeping the meeting within the same week and avoiding election night; one member suggested Monday, Nov. 4, to minimize conflicts with church or polling activity. A council member moved to change the meeting date to Monday the 4th; the motion was seconded and the mayor called for those in favor to raise their hands. The mayor announced, 'Motion passes,' but the transcript does not record a roll‑call tally.
The council recorded no executive session for the night and adjourned at 6:29 p.m.
