Saginaw reintroduces '212' employee awards; three staff recognized

“'212' recognizes employees who go the extra degree,” said Jared Kersey, assistant director of public works, explaining the program basis and reading supervisor notes praising recipients. Kersey said the program spotlights employees who take initiative or save money for the city.
Kersey identified three recipients: Ray (name spelled both 'Hatten' and later 'Hatton' in the transcript), who has worked for the city roughly nine-and-a-half years and was praised for constant hands‑on work; Jeremy Matthews, water quality specialist, who oversees monthly water sampling required by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality and who led the lead-and-copper inventory required by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency; and a staff member identified as CJ, who was present for a photo opportunity.
Kersey noted Jeremy Matthews welcomed a second child the same day and could not attend the meeting. The presentation included short supervisor write‑ups and a group photo with awardees and council members. Kersey also offered copies of the 212 book to staff and attendees.
