Neosho council authorizes multiple grants and maintenance contracts including CDBG mitigation and energy-efficiency applications

At its Nov. 5 meeting the Neosho City Council approved several grant-authority resolutions and maintenance contracts.
Staff asked for authorization to pursue Community Development Block Grant mitigation funds through the Harry S. Truman Coordinating Council for a Buffalo Creek lift-station project estimated at $1,151,000; council authorized staff to develop and submit the application. Separately, the city will apply for a Missouri Department of Natural Resources Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant to replace windows at City Hall, fund Fire Station 2 improvements and upgrades at the water filtration plant; the total project was cited at about $485,000, with an estimated $135,000 savings for City Hall if awarded.
Council also authorized a maintenance agreement with Blue Valley Public Safety Inc. for emergency siren system maintenance for a not-to-exceed $13,908 annual price; the fire chief said Blue Valley is the only local provider and has provided timely service. Finally, council approved a construction contract with Satterlee Plumbing, Heating and Air Conditioning for a replacement air conditioning unit (not to exceed $12,618), matching the earlier HVAC bid approval.
All measures passed by unanimous 7–0 votes.
