Charlie Hurry, director of development for the applicant, presented plans to rebrand and renovate the existing hotel at 11980 Olive Boulevard, including exterior façade updates, interior refurbishment and conversion of a meeting room into an additional guest room. "We are requesting your approval of amended zoning...to reimage the exterior, we'll renovate the interior of the existing hotel," Hurry said.
Planner Stephanie/Bethany Moore (transcript identifies city planner by name during the packet discussion) explained staff reviewed elevations and materials and said the proposal maintains existing square footage while requiring one additional parking calculation to accommodate the converted meeting room. The planner noted signage would be handled via a separate permit under the Southeast Olive I-270 Special Sign District and that invasive landscaping would be replaced with noninvasive species.
Commissioners entered applicant and staff exhibits into the record, a motion to recommend approval was made and the commission voted in favor. The item will appear on the city council agenda for final action.
