Board approves multiple event closures and right‑of‑way permits; some applications denied pending corrections

The City of Evansville Board of Public Works on Aug. 1 approved multiple event road closures, reviewed right‑of‑way permit applications and acted on permit applications that needed revision.

Unidentified Speaker 1 read a series of permit application IDs and event closure requests. The board approved barricades and signage for several events, including Central High School marching band competitions (Sept. 21 and Oct. 12), a YMCA half marathon (Sept. 21), an Evansville marathon/5K (Oct. 5), the Evansville Philharmonic New Tradition Series community concert (Sept. 29), the 4 Freedoms Veterans Parade (Nov. 9) and the Baptist Town Emancipation Festival. Staff noted some requests (items 4, 5 and 7 in the packet) were pending waivers and insurance; the board voted to approve those pending waivers where paperwork was in order.

On right‑of‑way permit applications (appendix A), Unidentified Speaker 9 reported the majority were 'reviewed and in order' but specified several applications (1834, 1841, 1842, 1848, 1849, 1851–1853) needed additional paperwork or corrections; the board moved to deny those applications (with one exception noted) and approved the remainder. Later, a late lane restriction entry for 'Germanicore' for Aug. 1–3 was presented; staff confirmed insurance and requested a condition requiring a lighted blinking board for nighttime operations, which the board approved.

All recorded actions on these items were approved by voice vote during the meeting transcript. Several items were noted as pending additional documentation or waivers and will require follow‑up by applicants and staff.
