The City of Evansville Board of Public Works reapproved a previously passed change order with the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) for Walnut Street reconstruction (project R‑41599) at its Aug. 1 meeting.
Unidentified Speaker 8 explained that the change order increases the contract by $56,805.19 to a new contract total of $21,369,029.66. He said the change order was previously approved by the board but, during INDOT's review process, the order required additional information and needed to be reprocessed; no substantive changes were made to the change order. The contractor on the Walnut Street work is Blankenberger, which staff said is currently working near the intersection of Garvin and Walnut and is approximately halfway through the reconstruction on Walnut.
Board members asked about percent complete and the schedule. Unidentified Speaker 8 said construction is on an optimistic schedule with an expected finish by November (construction) and engineering analysis possibly complete in April or May of the next year. He noted progress depends on fall weather and referenced coordination with water and sewer utility work through the corridor.
After a motion and second, the board reapproved the change order by voice vote. The transcript records no roll‑call tally and no request for additional modifications at the meeting.
