Montgomery approves Parkview Basin native-planting and grading contracts

The Village of Montgomery approved two public-works contracts aimed at stabilizing and restoring village-owned properties.
Director Wolf recommended awarding a contract to NCAP for native planting and long-term maintenance at Parkview Basin, explaining some basin slopes are too steep for routine mowing and that converting steep sections to native plantings will reduce long-term maintenance demands. Wolf said NCAP was the lowest and most responsible bidder after an RFP process. "We developed a plan to transform these areas into naturalized basins, which makes them long term more sustainable," Wolf said. Trustees moved, seconded and approved the contract by roll call (carried 6-0).
The board also approved a contract with J and S Construction for off-site grading related to the village’s new public-works facility. Wolf said excavated materials unsuitable for the building pad were identified on site and that the grading contract will redistribute overburden, respread topsoil stockpiles, and prepare minimal plantings and tree establishment; planting costs were listed separately in the contract packet and are subject to staff approval. The motion to approve the grading contract passed by roll call (carried 6-0).
Both contracts include project oversight by Public Works staff and were presented with budget breakdowns in the meeting packet; trustees asked staff to confirm timing and sequencing for the work.
