Montgomery proclaims September 2024 National Suicide Prevention Awareness Month

Lopez urged open conversations about suicide prevention and listed three resources: the 988 crisis line, branded suicide-prevention cards available in village lobbies, and awareness pins being worn by officers and staff throughout September. "It is my duty to encourage open conversations and communication," Lopez said, "and to make sure that people know that they are not alone."
Village leadership read the formal proclamation and encouraged residents to learn the warning signs and reach out to friends or family who may be struggling. A motion to adopt the proclamation was seconded and approved by the board.
The proclamation directs staff and community partners to raise awareness and signposted resources for residents; no additional board action was scheduled during the meeting.
