The Milledgeville City Council voted unanimously Oct. 22 to approve Resolution R-2410-45 authorizing a contract to repair and replace fencing around three city cemeteries.
City Manager Mister Griffith told the council that Option 2 on the contract would replace all fencing on the west side of Westview Cemetery rather than repairing only the damaged sections. Griffith said the same contract will remove and replace damaged fencing at Memory Hill (adjacent to South Clark Street/Flag Chapel Lane) and the west side of Rescue Cemetery.
'Location 1 is Bone Cemetery. All of the fencing around Bone Cemetery will be replaced,' Griffith said, summarizing the work the contract covers.
Councilors recorded a unanimous roll-call vote in favor of the resolution after the clerk read the caption; no members registered opposition or abstention.
Griffith also noted the city had encountered a procurement delay related to a vendor and that the contract follows routine bid procedures. Council members thanked staff and noted related park and gate maintenance items remaining in the public‑works workplan.
The resolution clears the way for contractor scheduling and for staff to coordinate site work and follow‑up inspections.
