Grant County’s council voted to allocate $486,313 to Radiant Health on a voice vote after a presentation from Lucy Lizzie, the organization’s chief operating officer.
Lizzie told the council the funding would support Radiant Health’s transition to a certified community behavioral health clinic (CCBHC) model, expand same-day outpatient care and sustain a 24/7 mobile crisis team and a rapid response center. She said the mobile team has received 1,926 calls so far this year, completed 520 mobile crisis responses and that staff interventions have resulted in 31 individuals surviving suicide attempts: “Those 31 lives ... are alive today as a result of the team’s response,” Lizzie said.
Lizzie said the rapid response center is expected to be fully operational by Jan. 1, 2025, and described the CCBHC model as requiring 24/7 crisis response, timely outpatient access and coordinated services with social service and justice systems. She requested the council approve a 4% growth allocation totaling $486,313 to help meet those targets.
Council members asked about the organization’s certification timeline and connections with law enforcement and the court system; Lizzie said Radiant Health is working with local law enforcement and a mental health court and that certification efforts began about four years ago. After discussion, Mr. Lemming moved to approve the allocation and Mr. Scott seconded; the motion carried by voice vote.
The council noted the county’s partnership in funding and said final personnel decisions tied to health-insurance contributions would be handled at a later special meeting.
