The Ashwaubenon Bicycle & Pedestrian Committee reviewed proposed mid‑block rapid‑flashing beacons (RRFBs) near the Holmgren/Cormier corridor on Oct. 14 and generally supported moving the project forward as part of the village’s 2025 capital improvement program.
Staff said two mid‑block locations were proposed to tie a new multi‑use development’s internal walkways and parking to nearby attractions, including the event center and stadium. The highway commissioner noted prior pedestrian conflicts in the corridor and recommended careful placement; staff and members favored mid‑block RRFBs because conflict points at intersections and nearby driveways could complicate operation.
Staff confirmed the RRFB installations are included in the 2025 budget. Because the project is estimated to exceed the village’s small‑purchase threshold, staff said formal engineering plans and a competitive bid will be required. Committee members asked staff to revisit the study done previously by an outside consultant and to include consultant recommendations in final design.
