Jefferson County commissioners voted unanimously to adopt Resolution 2025-03, lowering the vehicle registration administration fee to $6 effective Dec. 1, 2024.
Assessor Jessica Roach told the board that after more than a year of collecting the new title and registration administrative fees, the DMV budget showed about $30,000 in extra revenues. She requested reducing the registration admin fee from its current level to $6 while keeping the title fee at $7 to align estimated revenue with operating needs. Roach noted the statutory 5% ceiling applies only when increasing a fee and that the change would reduce the fee rather than raise it.
Clerk read the resolution into the record and commissioners moved and seconded adoption; the roll-call vote was recorded as all 'Aye.' Commissioners asked staff to set an effective date of Dec. 1 to allow the Idaho Transportation Department time to incorporate the change into renewal notices.
The board instructed staff to sign the resolution and coordinate the effective date with ITD.
