Commission removes Southeast 600 block (Ford Center) from downtown historic district

The commission approved staff's recommendation to remove the Southeast 600 block of Main Street (the Ford Center/Support Center) from the Evansville Downtown Historic District. Staff said the National Register advised that the block no longer contributes to district integrity and that removal is a straightforward delisting process handled via letter.
A commissioner moved to remove the Ford Center from the designation and another seconded; the chair called for the voice vote and reported the motion carried. Staff said they will begin the administrative process to send notice to the National Register and to effect the change.
