Board hears grant-process update; about 20 nonprofits have applied so far

Board staff provided an update on the trust’s annual grant process and outreach.
The chair introduced agenda item 5 and asked Miss Kendall to present. Kendall said the application platform currently shows about 20 nonprofits active in the system. "It looks like things are set well," she said, noting last year’s higher participation and staff outreach including press releases, posting on CharityTracker and a how-to video produced with City TV.
Trustees discussed outreach opportunities and encouraged board members to share information with eligible nonprofits. Trustee 7 offered to share an email list to help spread the word and staff agreed to provide a list of last year’s grantees on request. Staff reminded trustees that completed applications are due in October and that recommendations from the review panel are targeted for mid- to late-January.
The board noted the process was "pretty strong" and encouraged additional outreach to expand applicant diversity. No formal action was taken on the grant process during the meeting; trustees agreed to coordinate calendars by email to schedule a follow-up meeting in late January or February to align with the panel’s recommendations.
