Stayton — The Stayton City Council unanimously approved Resolution 1119 to amend the city's rules for rental and use of municipal facilities, including parks and community spaces.
James Brand, City Finance Director, told the council the resolution clarifies language and formally adds newly requested park structures to the reservation program. "Parks are still free on a first come, first served basis," Brand said, adding that the change simply permits reservations at some facilities for a modest fee.
The resolution also changes language about deposits and the approval process, and staff noted the city no longer assigns police officers for routine rental security. Brand described the amendments as clean-up and alignment with current practice rather than major policy changes.
No members of the public testified on the item. Councilor Sims moved to approve Resolution 1119 as presented; Councilor Patty seconded. The motion passed on a 5–0 voice vote.
Staff said further details, including updated fee schedules and the list of named park structures added to the reservation program (examples cited in the presentation included Pioneer Park and Sanium Park), will be reflected in adopted administrative rules and posted with the city’s booking information.
