The Yellowstone County Board of County Commissioners voted July 9 to approve Resolution 24‑112, a resolution of intent to abandon a short, west-end portion of Rosebud Lane. County staff said the petition—filed by Camping World—followed parcel aggregation that eliminated the road’s role in providing access to other parcels.
Monica, the county staff presenter, said the board of viewers recommended conditions before final abandonment: submission of an amended certificate of survey depicting the abandonment and necessary utility easements; relocation of a fire hydrant if required with corresponding easement provisions; and completion of required work within one year. The resolution approved today is the board’s formal intent; staff said a subsequent resolution will formally and finally abandon the road after the conditions are satisfied.
Rob Pedigo, a property owner at 1023 Rosebud Lane, spoke during the public hearing. He said the stretch is a safe walking route used by his gym and by first responders and requested that the petitioner maintain a public sidewalk in front of the property. Commissioners responded that a sidewalk condition is not a typical part of the abandonment process and suggested Pedigo pursue a private easement with the landowner.
The motion to approve Resolution 24‑112 was made, seconded and approved by voice vote. No dollar figures or timetable beyond the board-of-viewers’ one-year completion recommendation were specified in the hearing.
