Fenton selects audit firm and approves midyear budget adjustments

The Fenton Board of Aldermen accepted staff recommendations Sept. 12 to award three‑year audit services to Vic Eggermeyer & Williamson (lowest bidder) and approved midyear adjustments to the 2024 budget.
Alderman Crutch reviewed monthly finance figures: a current‑month general fund of $361,917, total month revenue of $668,186 and current‑month expenditures of $474,782; cash, investments and fund totals were also presented. After reviewing three proposals for audits, staff recommended the lowest bidder (Vic Eggermeyer & Williamson) and the board approved that contract by motion.
Finance Director Tammy Allsopp also explained an irregular charge to the Community Development gas account tied to county police vehicles using the city fuel pumps; staff will invoice St. Louis County for reimbursement, change accounting codes and use swipe cards and camera records to prevent future miscoding.
The board approved the midyear budget adjustments as written and asked staff to pursue reimbursements and implement safeguards to avoid future miscoding of fuel charges.
