Helena‑West Helena's council approved several operations items on Oct. 22, including the donation of a surplus 1974 fire pumper, reauthorization of financing for a recently delivered new pumper, and authorization to proceed with a quoted repair at Pump Station 3.
Staff described the surplus vehicle (1974 Ford pumper, VIN ending in 714149) with an estimated value between $4,000 and $5,000 and asked whether to donate it to Lakeview. After brief discussion Doctor Miller indicated support and the clerk recorded a unanimous roll‑call approval to donate the pumper.
Separately, staff noted the financing company requested an updated council resolution for the new pumper purchase made earlier this year. The council reauthorized the financing as requested; staff said the contract assignment and an updated resolution were needed to allow payment on the delivered vehicle (packet listed $389,465 as the amount tied to the financing).
The council also reviewed repairs needed at Pump Station 3 (Valley Drive) to fix a failing lift/pump; staff presented a sales quotation for $12,929.39 and asked authorization to proceed. Councilors approved the repair work in a roll‑call vote.
On vendor invoices for the water department, staff presented and the council approved listed invoices for Delta Plumbing and Quarter Loan Plumbing for leak repairs and related work (packet pages starting at page 151).
