Board recognizes student soloist at ASU Gammage and new McClintock librarian

Acting Superintendent Dr. Wilson introduced junior Johanna Villanueva of Marco Staniza High School and invited her to perform. Villanueva sang a solo rendition of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow," which drew praise from board members and staff. Villanueva thanked her drama teacher, Dr. Hines, family members and production colleagues.
The board also recognized Amanda Johnson as the new librarian at McClintock High School. Dr. Wilson described Johnson's work to transform the library into an inviting "Charger Hub" with spaces for parent meetings and student engagement. Johnson told the board she has worked in the district for many years and credited principals and library staff, including Isabel Yuen and Jason Aragon, for helping implement changes such as allowing students to have lunch in the library and expanding supports and programming.
Both recognitions were ceremonial; there was no board action required.
