The planning and development department issued a request for interest (RFI) for historic building rehabilitation work at Pier 70, seeking tenants and developers for six buildings along Twentieth Street including the Union Ironworks machine shop and Bethlehem Steel office building.
Staff announced that the port issued a Notice of Preparation (NOP) for an environmental impact report for the Pier 27 Cruise Ship Terminal, America's Cup races and Northeast Wharf Plaza; the NOP was issued on February 9 and public comments are due to the San Francisco Planning Department by March 11 (Joy Navarette listed as contact). Staff also said Pier 80 will serve as the logistical headquarters for Oracle Racing and that San Francisco will host the America's Cup events in 2013. Additional announcements included the grand opening of Carnelian by the Bay restaurant, the eighth annual San Francisco Ocean Film Festival (50 films over five days), and the return of Sunday Streets on March 20 along the Embarcadero from Fisherman's Wharf to Mission Bay.
