Residents press Homer Glen trustees on BP pipeline tree clearing and flood risks; subcommittee to be formed

Several residents used the public-comment period at the Oct. 24 Homer Glen Board of Trustees meeting to press officials over BP pipeline work and local tree protections.
"Our present tree ordinance covers 5 acres or larger," resident Joe Therese said, urging the board to lower the threshold so protections would apply to smaller properties. Therese told trustees that he and other neighbors have repeatedly seen trees removed and asked the board to strengthen local protections and to form the BP pipeline subcommittee proposed earlier by trustees.
