SFPUC reports Marshes Fire near Moccasin; operations intact

San Francisco — The SFPUC provided an on‑the‑ground update on the Marshes Fire near Moccasin during the Sept. 27 meeting.
Steve Ritchie, Assistant General Manager for Water, said the fire began about 12:15 p.m. the previous day and was estimated at about 930 acres early that morning. "It does not actively threaten any of our assets right now," Ritchie said, adding that there were no impacts to water and power deliveries. He said staff issued a press release and set contingency plans in place in case an evacuation advisory forced operational changes.
Ritchie described incident command coordination with Cal Fire and said Moccasin staff and regional firefighting resources have responded aggressively, with strike teams, helicopters and fixed‑wing aircraft engaged. Staff committed to twice‑daily coordination calls while the fire continues.
The commission requested updates as conditions evolve; staff said the next operational conference call was scheduled for 5 p.m. that day.
