Trustees approved Ordinance 2024-087 to allow appearance modifications for a Harbor Freight Tools store at 555 Townline Road after staff said the change is a substantial departure from the 2002 approval and thus required board review.
Director Jennings explained the requested branded entry feature and canopy and noted the change did not require a public hearing but did require board review because it departs from prior approvals. Matthew Mellon, representing Harbor Freight, described the national rebranding in the past decade and told the board the company expects to open around the July 4 weekend. Trustees discussed color and brand consistency with other stores and approved the ordinance on a roll call vote.
What’s next: Harbor Freight will proceed with exterior work and the company expects to open the store in July; staff will monitor compliance with the approved appearance.
