The administration described the proposal as the next phase following Wold's educational alignment study for the district's 15 schools. The vendor's scope would include convening a representative committee, facilitating prioritization of program and facility objectives, and building out options (for example, where full-day pre-K might fit) with cost estimates and timelines.
"This will be the umbrella process for us to then insert those other pieces of data so that we look really comprehensively at a long range plan," the administration said during the discussion. Staff said vendor proposals for boundary and demographic studies will be returned for the board in December and that vendor work could be staged so some analyses are front-loaded.
Board members raised governance considerations: the full board would need to be heavily engaged, committee membership should be representative, and the timing of vendor kickoff must account for pending elections that could change membership. Administrators said they would confirm flexibility in the vendor's start dates and report back to the board in December.
No final procurement vote was taken on Nov. 13; staff said they intend to seek board approval in December if trustees endorse the scope and timeline.
