Evansville pension board denies applicant 24039, removes deceased retirees from payroll

Chief Phil Smith moved to deny applicant 24039; Brian Underwood seconded. The board took a voice vote with members answering “aye” and the motion to deny passed.
The board then approved minutes from a prior meeting after a motion that was seconded by Underwood and adopted by a voice vote. Secretary Rick Hubbard presented the financial report and said the 1925 fund balance was reported for July and that payroll for July 31, 2024, totaled $244,061.32.
The board announced several recent retiree deaths. A motion by Chief Phil Smith, seconded by Robert Gunter, removed retired officer Charles R. Miller from the payroll. The board also recorded the death of Sergeant Charles A. Woods (reported as processing by his wife, Jane) and moved to remove retired Sergeant Ray Stoffel from the payroll and add his wife, Linda, to the payroll; that motion was moved by Chief Phil Smith and seconded by Robert Gunter and was approved by voice vote.
The board had no retirement resignations and raised no old or new business. Secretary Hubbard announced the next regular meeting will be held Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2024, in Room 307 at Civic Center Plaza, starting at 8:15 a.m. The meeting was adjourned following a motion by Kyle Castle, seconded by Brian Underwood.
