Board approves multiple special-event street closures, road and parking permits

The board also approved the University of Evansville's 5K course and closures for Oct. 26 (7 a.m.–1 p.m.).
The Haney's Corner Art District Association requested a front-porch fest and partial lane closure of northwest-bound Riverside (between Adams and Linden) on Sept. 7 to provide a safety buffer for a band performing on Riverside. One board member objected, saying, "I don't agree with closing the south or the northwestbound lanes of Riverside." Staff, citing Sergeant Adam Will (Evansville Police Department), said the proposal was a partial closure that would keep the opposite direction open and include police at the intersection; a representative described last year's crowd proximity to the street as the reason for the measure. The board approved the partial closure, with police presence noted as a safety plan.
The Evansville Building Authority received approval to close Sycamore Street (Elias to S. Heidelbach) for chiller delivery for the C.K. Newsome project on one of several proposed dates. The Evansville Fire Department also received approval to close Buchanan Road near the Fire Training Center on Sept. 14 (6 a.m.–4 p.m.) for Fire Ops 101.

In one residential matter, a resident (Curtis) explained the need to extend on-street RV loading and unloading beyond ordinance time limits for short periods on Aug. 29 and Sept. 2; the board approved an extended loading permit for the requested times. Pinnacle Contractors' parking permit renewal for the Old National Bank area (Aug. 28–Dec. 31) was also approved.
Administrative items — including approval of "clamps," minutes from the Aug. 14 meeting and scheduling the next board meeting for Sept. 11, 2024 — were completed and the meeting adjourned.
