Area Plan Commission unanimously recommends downzone for property owned by Ted Woodruff

The Evansville Area Plan Commission voted unanimously Aug. 1 to recommend approval of a petition to rezone a property from M2 (industrial) to R1 (residential) to allow a single-family home. The commission recorded a 9–0 roll-call recommendation advancing the case to Evansville City Council, which is scheduled to consider the item Aug. 26 at 5:30 p.m.

Attorney Steve Bollever said he represents property owner Ted Woodruff and offered a brief presentation identifying the requested downzone and the intended residential use. “I'm Steve Bollever. I'm an attorney for mister Ted Woodruff, who's the owner of the property at the subject property and requesting the down zoning,” Bollever said on the record.

Staff had described the request as a straightforward downzoning from an industrial designation to R1 for a single home; no remonstrators testified at the hearing. With no additional questions, a motion to approve was made and seconded and the commission chair directed a roll-call vote, with each commissioner recorded in favor.

The commission’s recommendation is advisory; the city council will make the final decision. The commission noted that city rezonings heard by this body will be taken up by city council on Aug. 26 in the same civic center room.
